Hello!
I'm Jackie Johnson, aka The Weather Chef, and if there's anything I know I understand, it's the weather and cooking. Throughout my 15-year television career, I worked as the lead on-camera meteorologist for major cities like Miami, NYC and finally, Los Angeles. I was fortunate to do what I loved, but everything changed as soon as I had kids. I quit my job so I could be home and raise our children and... I had to start cooking! I've always been passionate about food and wine, however, late nights in the studio didn't allow me much time to cook. I had a lot to learn. The idea of getting ingredients from my garden and cooking a lovely meal for friends and family was very romantic to me. It took years of practice, but now, I must say, I'm now a wonderful cook. I hope you enjoy my recipes and tips on gardening, home decor, style and more.
I love to cook with fresh ingredients that are in season and are sourced locally. Whether it be from my garden or our local farmers market. It's healthier, tastes better, and is better for the environment.
Since becoming a mother, I'm more concerned about the kind of food all of us putting into our bodies. This includes where it's from and how it was grown—all while balancing the fact that my kids are more concerned with how it tastes. This means all my recipes prioritize healthy ingredients that still taste delicious.
